Mahsa(jina) Amini
Her Tragic Demise Ignited the 'Women, Life, Freedom' Revolution

M
Mahsa (Jina) Amini was killed by the Guidance Patrol, the religious morality police of Iran's government. Her death has reignited the ongoing issues of police brutality and human rights violations in Iran, leading to protests and calls for justice and accountability.
On September 16th, just hours after Amini's death, demonstrators gathered outside Kasra Hospital in Tehran, where Amini had been treated. Security forces deployed pepper spray against the protesters, and several individuals were arrested.
An ongoing series of protests and civil unrest against the Iranian government began not just in Tehran but also in Saqqez, Amini's hometown, and other cities. Protesters chanted slogans such as "Death to the dictator!" and feminist cries of "Women, life, freedom!"
As of October 8, 2022, at least 185 people have been killed as a result of the government's intervention in the protests, which has involved the use of tear gas and live rounds.
The movement and protests for "women, life, freedom" continue...
